Lions push win streak to five with Dublin tournament victories over Coleman, Huckabay

DUBLIN – The Brownwood Lions began play in the Dublin tournament Thursday with their fourth and fifth consecutive victories over Coleman and Class 1A No. 6 Huckabay.

In a 74-47 triumph over Coleman in the afternoon, Brownwood was up 22-14 after one period, 47-27 at halftime and 59-35 through three quarters.

Casey Friebel scored a game-high 20 points followed by Ross Strasner and Noah Pyle with 10 apiece, Elias Perez and Devin Eanes with eight each, Durham Brown with seven, and Bennett Windham and Weston Wolf with two points each.

In a 69-42 win over Huckabay in the morning, the Lions jumped out to a 23-9 lead after one quarter, which grew to 46-19 at halftime, and stood at 56-40 through three periods.

Strasner scored a team-high 24 points followed 17 points from Friebel, 12 from Brown, eight from Perez, three from Braeden Stacks, two each from Wolf and Eanes, and one point from Windham.

The Lions (7-2) are back in action at 8 p.m. Friday against host Dublin.
