John Connaway, a Brookesmith rancher and board member of Brown County Farm Bureau, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Texas Beef Council (TBC). Nominated by Texas Farm Bureau and approved by the TBC and the Texas Department of Agriculture, Connaway brings generations of ranching expertise to the role.
The Texas Beef Council oversees the Texas Beef Checkoff program, which funds initiatives to promote beef as a leading protein choice both statewide and globally. As a board member, Connaway will work to represent the interests of Texas cattle producers while advancing the legacy of the state’s beef industry.
“Being part of a ranching family with over a century of history in southern Brown County, this is a responsibility I deeply value,” said Connaway. “I’m honored to contribute to the incredible story of Texas beef and help support the hardworking producers who make this industry great.”
Connaway’s background includes leadership roles in agricultural organizations, including serving as chairman of the Texas Farm Bureau Beef Cattle Advisory Committee. He and his wife Laura also operate Connaway Ranch LLC in Brookesmith, Texas, a cow-calf operation.
“I’m excited to be part of an organization that plays such a crucial role in promoting the excellence of Texas beef,” Connaway said.
The Texas Beef Council is a nonprofit organization funded by cattle producers to support education, research, and promotion efforts for the beef industry.
