Freda Mae (Hacker) Landers, 77, of Early, Texas and formerly of Weatherford, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Weatherford, OK, 817 N 7th St, Weatherford, OK 73096 with interment to follow at Albert Cemetery, 13101 E 1250 Rd, Fort Cobb, OK 73038.
Freda was born February 18, 1947 at home in Minco, Oklahoma to James Irvin and Iva Mae (Mitchum) Hacker. She attended Minco Public Schools and married Virgil Landers December 3, 1966 in Carnegie Oklahoma at the Church of Christ. Virgil and Freda were blessed with 6 children that filled their lives with happiness. Freda worked several places in her life from sewing peanut sacks to being a caretaker and finishing her working career at Littlebird Nursing Home in Weatherford, Oklahoma as a caregiver. Freda always enjoyed working in her yard doing the mowing, tree trimming, and most importantly pulling up the grass burrs and picking up any fallen limbs. She enjoyed visits from her family as long as the visits were short. She was always concerned about other people’s safety, so if it was getting dark or a chance of rain, she would advise you to get home before it became unsafe. She was an avid weather watcher and knew the weather alerts in all the areas where her family lived. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing along whether that was at a family get together or alone. If there was music on, she was moving to it. She never met a stranger, even if the stranger didn’t have a clue who she was, they were going to get a hug and a laugh. When she wasn’t working outside, you could find her inside watching old westerns like Gunsmoke and Rifleman. It’s hard to sum up the life of someone who meant so much to so many. Anyone who knew her was fortunate to have their life blessed by her infectious laughter and warm hugs.
Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Landers; her parents, James Irvin Hacker and Iva Mae (Mitchum) Hacker; her siblings, Betty Moore, Warren Hacker, Violet “Peg” George, Loretta Perkins, Lawrence Hacker, Eugene Hacker, and Anola “Nolie” Merkle.
