Wanda was born August 23, 1931 in Midland, Texas to Robert Compton and Burlie Jester (Ratliff) Vest. She graduated from Midland High School in 1949. Wanda was born when times were hard. Luxury items like electricity, hot running water, refrigerators and washing machines were nonexistent, but Love was abundant. Her parents loved God, each other and all 6 of their children. She was the baby of the family and proud of it. Her dad was a dairy farmer and her mother sold eggs to buy material to make her school clothes. Upon graduation from Midland High School in 1949, she began work at Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator. She was promoted in the company and held an administrative position when she retired after 32 years, 10 months, and 23 days. She was quick to share those details when given an opportunity. She was a proud mother to her son, Gary Mitchell. Hubert Morrow came into her life at the perfect time. He was a devoted husband and step-dad. They retired and moved from Midland to Lake Brownwood in 1985. She was a wonderful cook. Her specialty was creamed potatoes and Italian Cream Cake. No one ever went hungry when visiting a Vest girl. Wanda was a faithful member at Rocky Creek Baptist Church for many years. She loved to travel with her nieces and other family members. She enjoyed the fellowship at the Senior Citizens dances. Wanda exemplified a Proverbs 31 woman. She looked well to the ways of her household. She was never idle. She was wise and strived to show kindness and love to all. Wanda was a woman that loved the Lord. She will be missed and fondly remembered by all that knew her.

Wanda is survived by her niece, Patricia Irvin and husband Jerry of Glen Rose, Texas; step son, Tommy Morrow and wife, Ann of Florence, Texas; daughter-in-law, Sharon Mitchell of Carlsbad, NM; 3 grandchildren, Brian Morrow, Shelly Locke and Julie Denton; 5 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and church family.
