John Jefferson Johnson III, born on October 23, 1976, in Brownwood, Texas, passed away on November 28, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas.
John worked for many years as a roughneck in the oil field. His early endeavors also included his time spent working at Coleman Livestock Auction, where he learned the value of hard work. He was educated in Coleman and Rising Star, where he developed a strong personality that would characterize him throughout his life. His proudest accomplishment came after receiving his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), which allowed him to drive oil field equipment. Unfortunately, an accident that impaired his eyesight prevented him from continuing this path.
John was known for his interests, particularly his fondness for guns, which became one of his hobbies. His zest for life and strong character left an indelible mark on all those who knew him.
He is survived by his sister, Christeyna Johnson-Henneigh and her husband Steve of San Angelo; nephew, Ethan Cord Brannon and his wife Emily of Lubbock; niece, Destiny Renee Brannon of Tuscola; former wife, Rebecca Johnson of Bangs and her children, Christopher Bartholomew and Priscilla Bartholomew; and nephew, Joe Bartholomew.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Jefferson Johnson, Jr. and mother, Linda Sue Jarvis. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends, who will remember him as a strong and resilient individual.
There will be a private family service held at a later date.
