HAMILTON – The Brownwood Lady Lions finished as the runner-up at the Hamilton tournament, dropping the championship game to Godley, 47-35, Saturday night.
The Lady Lions (7-2) trailed just 10-9 after one quarter but fell into a 22-12 hole at halftime and faced a 33-18 deficit heading into the fourth period.
Brownwood shot just 25 percent (12 of 48) from the floor, committed 23 turnovers, and hit only 47 percent (9 of 19) of its free throws. The Lady Lions did grab 35 rebounds, including 16 on the offensive end, and recorded seven steals.
Icess Hall led Brownwood with 11 points trailed by Hannah Deen with eight, Jade Morin with five, Lanie Johnson with four, Trinity Roberts with three, and Nylah Hall and Kate Tindol with two points apiece.
The Lady Lions are back in action at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday as they host Jim Ned.
