Lady Lions collect third straight win to start the season, 39-33 at Sweetwater

SWEETWATER – The Brownwood Lady Lions found another win away from home as they moved to 3-0 on the season with a 39-33 triumph over the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs Tuesday night.

Brownwood shot 31 percent (15 of 49) from the floor, but only 7 percent (1 of 13) on three-pointers. The Lady Lions also hit just 53 percent (8 of 15) of their free throws to go along with 14 turnovers, which helped Sweetwater to hang around.

The Lady Lions did pull down 31 rebounds, including 13 on the offensive end, and tallied 10 steals to keep the Lady Mustangs at arm’s length.

Tied at 9 after one quarter, Brownwood led 19-18 at halftime and 28-27 heading into the fourth period, where the Lady Lions again pulled away for the third consecutive outing.

Jade Morin scored a team-best 12 points for the Lady Lions trailed by 11 from Hannah Deen, seven from Trinity Roberts, four from Icess Hall, three Miranda Northcutt and two points from Cassidy Brown.

The Lady Lions are on the road again at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Gorman in their finale game before the Tuesday, Nov. 19 home opener against Early.
