Jeff Moore, a beloved member of the Coleman community, passed away on November 6, 2024, at the age of 88 in Coleman, Texas. He was born Jeward Jefferson Moore, Jr. on September 4, 1936, in Giddings, Texas, to Jeward Jefferson Moore and Lillie Ferris Swinney Moore. Jeff spent his childhood immersed in the warm embrace of family and friends, values that would guide him throughout his life.
Jeff dedicated 30 industrious years to the United States Postal Service, where served as a mail carrier in Brownwood and Abilene, retiring in 1996. Even after retirement, his unwavering spirit of service continued, as he worked diligently as a driver for City and Rural Rides (C.A.R.R.) and for Girling Home Health, delivering medical equipment with compassion and care.
His journey took a heartfelt turn when he answered the call to enter the ministry. He served as a minister at Harmony Baptist Church, White Chapel Baptist Church and North Coleman Baptist Church. His faith and commitment to his community shone brightly, nurturing connections that spanned generations.
A graduate from Lubbock High School, Jeff’s early years were marked by service, as he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He carried the spirit of camaraderie forged in those years throughout his life, cherishing deep connections with those around him.
Jeff was profoundly family-oriented, embodying the true essence of love and dedication. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Chris Moore and wife, Jerilyn of Coleman; daughter, Danita McKee and husband, Randy of Coleman; sister, Pat Mayes of Michigan; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Edington and husband, Jim Bob of Coleman, Seth Moore and wife, Shelby of Coleman, Jessica Anderson and husband, Esley of Cuero, Heather Dennis and husband, Josh of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Landon Hinds of Brownwood, and Sheridan Jones of Coleman. Additionally, he is survived by 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom adored him.
Though he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anita Moore; brother, Jack Moore; sister, Ann Westmoreland; and great-grandson, Haiden Hinds, Jeff’s spirit will undoubtedly continue to shine through the hearts of all those he touched.
