Rita Sue Harris, 66

Rita Sue Harris of Santa Anna, Texas, at the age of 66 years passed to be with her Lord Jesus on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 6:11 pm at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.

Services will be Tuesday, November 4, 2024, 2:00 pm graveside at Clear Creek Cemetery east of Bangs, Texas with Jerry Chastain officiating, interment to follow.  Visitation for family and friends will be Monday from 5:30 till 7:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home.  Services under the care and direction of Henderson Funeral Home Staff of Santa Anna.

She was born Rita Sue Morris on December 10, 1957, in Brownwood, Texas, one of thirteen children born to loving parents John Thomas and Ima Louise Hoffman Morris.   Along with her siblings Rita was raised in Santa Anna where she attended the Santa Anna Schools.  She was a lifetime resident of Santa Anna and member of the Methodist Church. Rita loved to cook and was an excellent baker.  She also loved the outdoors working with her plants and anything she could grow and flourish with her hands. 

As a chef Rita owned and operated the Kountry Kupboard Restaurant for many years serving many appreciative patrons in Santa Anna.  Following the closing of her restaurant, Rita worked with her siblings at other family-operated restaurants.  She spent the last twenty years working with her brother John at Traveler’s Treasures and Trees Forever Nursery.

Survivors  Son -Roy Lee Shields of Santa Anna, TX; Honorary Daughter Katie Makuta of San Angelo, TX;  2 Sisters-  Johnlene Kennedy of Santa Anna, TX; Donna & husband Burnie Bell of San Angelo, TX;  3 Brothers – Don & wife Jan Makuta of Marietta, GA; Kenneth Makuta of Bangs, TX;  John Morris of Santa Anna, TX;   3 Grandchildren Kiersten Shields of Fisk, TX;  Kristie Sellers of Virginia Beach, VA;  Kaegan Renae Shields of Midland, TX;  7 Great Grandchildren

Pallbearers: Kevin Morris, Cody Scott Martin, Jimmy Row, Charlie Morris, Christopher Morris and Jacob Neeley. Honorary pallbearer will be Rance Railsback.

The family requests donations be made to Clear Creek Cemetery in care of Santa Anna National Bank.
