Arvin was born in Loco, Oklahoma, on May 15, 1939, to Goldman and Roxie Stroud. He was one of eight children and grew up in rural West Texas.
Arvin met the love of his life, Beverly Snodgrass, on a blind date set up by each of their best friends. They were married June 13, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas. They had a love that others could only dream of. They celebrated their 65th anniversary this year. God blessed them with two children: a son, Allen, and a daughter, Becky.
Arvin had many careers in his lifetime, from selling insurance to owning a Dr. Pepper distributing business, then owning a Borden Milk distributing business, and partnering in a used car dealership, to finally, a construction company that built metal buildings.
Arvin and Beverly purchased their home at Lake Brownwood in 1970. They enjoyed many of their younger years boating, water skiing, and fishing on the lake. As a young family, they spent time camping and fishing all over Texas.
Arvin was also an avid hunter. He enjoyed pheasant hunting in West Texas, deer hunting in the Big Country of Texas, and elk hunting in Colorado. Beverly was always by his side. He had many close friends with whom he fished and hunted. Many beautiful memories were created on those trips. They were adventures that he always treasured.
Arvin and Beverly attended the Lake Brownwood Church of Christ for many years. The fellowship with their church family was a huge part of their lives. They were dedicated to studying God’s word and worshiping their Lord and Savior.
