Samuel ‘Sam’ Dane Tisdale, 70

Samuel “Sam” Dane Tisdale, 70, of San Saba, Texas, passed away peacefully in the San Saba Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility on October 16, 2024. Services will be at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas on Monday, October 21 at 2:00 PM with Brother Tom Brand officiating. Visitation will be before the funeral at 1:00 PM. Interment at the San Saba City Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba. 

Sam was born on June 23, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas, and his parents were Clarence and Lennie D Johnston Tisdale. He grew up on the Barnet Springs Ranch in San Saba and attended schools in San Saba and the San Marcos Baptist Academy. He resided in San Saba all his life and enjoyed hunting and visiting and joking with his many friends. He was baptized in the San Saba River and attended the Father’s House Church when he was able. Sam had a cheerful disposition despite his many health issues and teased and joked until his last day. He became a favorite at the nursing home and considered his care givers his friends and family.

He is survived by one brother, Olan Tisdale and wife Nanette. Nieces and nephews: Jerry Norvell and wife Staci; Ericka Tisdale McBrine and husband Bill; Ross Tisdale; Rhett Tisdale and wife Jessica. Great nieces and nephews: Dana Dyer; Shana Dziedzic; McKenna and Landon Moreland; Jack, Fletcher, Joshua and Hannah McBrine; and Abigail and Jonathon Tisdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lennie D Tisdale; brother, Herb Tisdale, and sister, Susie Tisdale Norvell.

Memorials can be made to The Father’s House or the charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at the San Saba Rehab and Nursing Center and the Solaris Hospice for their loving care of Sam for many years. They became friends and family to and for him, and we extend our deepest appreciation to each of them for going far beyond the call of duty. We pray blessings over you as you so richly blessed Sam.
