Lady Lions cross country team places second by one point at Brock Invitational

BROCK – The Brownwood Lady Lions cross country team placed second, one point behind meet champion Hamilton, at the Brock Invitational on Wednesday.

The Lady Lions tallied 58 points to Hamilton’s 57 as Sidney Windham led Brownwood in fourth place with a time of 12:35.27 in fourth place followed by Kate Tindol in fifth place at 12:37.16, Kylea Karnes (11th, 12:57.97), Talia Craff (16th, 13:13.72), Rebekkah Delgado (22nd, 13:30.82), Braycee Lee (31st, 13:48.37), Khloe Galvan (38th, 14:06.06), and Haylee Adkins (46th, 14:14.12).

The Brownwood Lions placed ninth in the varsity boys portion of the meet as Bennett Windham came in ninth place in a time of 17:26.96 trailed by Noah Lambert (27th, 18:23.82), Stephen Rodriguez (52nd, 19:05.01), Aidan Pena (56th, 19:14.32), Ross Strasner (81st, 20:00.2), and Hayden Mair (83rd, 20:02.85).

Zephyr was also on hand at the meet as the Bulldogs came in fifth led by the seventh-place effort of Eli Williams in 17:25.48 along with Aaron Fagan (14th, 17:33.5), Riley McCuller (41st, 18:55.69), Cash Whisenhunt (53rd, 19:09.09), Reese Hamm (67th, 19:30.77), Slade Butler (85th, 20:12.59), and Cooper Walls (102nd, 21:31.67).

The Zephyr Lady Bulldogs placed 17th as team as competitors included Hadley Phillips (99th, 15:43.88), Kathryn Williams (118th, 16:31.41), Kristan King (121st, 16:39.22), Nae’j Payne (123rd, 16:49.91), and Rebecca Evetts (135th, 18:13.44).

In the JV ranks, the Brownwood Lady Lions finished first as a team with 59 points to the 78 of runner-up Brock.

Lyndi Biasiolli won the race in 14:08.68 followed by runner-up Joclyn Salazar in a time of 14:10.76, while also competing for the Lady Lions were Montanna Ramsey (8th, 14:58.26), Karissa Raines (17th, 15:38.11), Autumn Reeves (33rd, 16:09.75), Izzie Mendez (50th, 16:48.87), Maddie Hampton (61st, 17:14.59), Natalie Dillard (69th, 17:37.98), Adamaris Moreno (76th, 18:02.84), and Jazzmyn Sanchez (114th, 20:36.73).

The JV Lions finished fourth in the team standings led by Alex Vaquera (13th, 20:08.55), Valente Cardenas (20th, 20:13.79), Bryce Booth (30th, 20:59.95), Jayden Sanchez (33rd, 21:02.69), Gio Diaz (36th, 21:11.45), Hayden Padgett (49th, 21:36.79), EJ Stanfield (60th, 22:13.31), Tru Pesina (76th, 23:14.01), and Brayden Musick (85th, 23:41.41).

The Lady Lions and Lions will be back in action Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Stephenville Thrill of the Hill run, their final event before the Monday, Oct. 7 District 6-4A meet back in Brock.
