September Sales Tax Up in Brownwood & Bangs, Down in Early

Sales tax allocations for the month of September were released this week by the Texas Comptroller’s office.  The City of Brownwood and City of Bangs received allocations that are larger than September 2023, while the City of Early’s allocation was lower.  September is the final month of the fiscal year for all three cities, and for the year in total, both Brownwood’s and Early’s sales tax allocations were greater than the budgeted amount.  September sales tax allocations reflect taxable retail sales in July 2024.  Details below.

BROWNWOOD

The City of Brownwood received $594,527, an increase of 3.65% over September 2023.  For the fiscal year (October 2023 through September 2024) Brownwood received $7,138,495, down 2.44% from the previous fiscal year.  The annual total, however, was 3.71% larger than the budgeted amount of $6,883,402.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $197,057, up 3.05% over September 2023.  For the fiscal year, the Brownwood MDD received $2,329,540, down 1.65% from the previous fiscal year.

EARLY

The City of Early received $186,804, down 5.74% from September 2023.  For the fiscal year Early received $2,370,845, down 13.12% from the previous fiscal year.  The annual total, however, was 26.45% larger than the budgeted amount of $1,875,000.

The Early Municipal Development District received $61,599, down 5.87% from September 2023.  For the fiscal year, the Early MDD received $773,052, down 13.54% from the previous fiscal year.

BANGS

The City of Bangs received $23,070, an increase of 21.45% over September 2023.  For the fiscal year, Bangs received $261,154, up 5.10% over the previous fiscal year.

The Bangs Municipal Development District received $3,370, an increase of 19.89% over September 2023.  For the fiscal year, the Bangs MDD received $37,381, up 3.64% over the previous fiscal year.
