Ruby Nell Limmer Schuman was born on November 28, 1934, to Paul and Helen (Kohler) Limmer in Priddy, Texas. Ruby was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church. Ruby was a dedicated teacher having taught 47 years all at Comanche ISD.

Ruby was a graduate of Priddy High School and received her B.S. from Howard Payne University and M.Ed. from Tarleton State University. She was a devoted music teacher at the elementary school. Her commitment to excellence was evident in the music programs put on by her young talented performers. Ruby’s impact as a music teacher went beyond her classroom, leaving a lasting impression on her students and colleagues, who admired her passion and talent for teaching music.

Ruby along with her co-teacher, Susan Stepp, played a pivotal role in creating and establishing the Gifted and Talented program for elementary students. Through their hard work and innovative ideas, they helped nurture the potential of each student’s unique needs and talents.

One of the greatest honors for Ruby was being a church organist for many years. She began serving as church musician at Zion Lutheran in 1947. At one point she played for two services (one in German and one in English) until the German service was discontinued in the late 1950’s. Through her playing of the organ along with her beautiful voice, she added much to the service of the Word of God. Her talent was truly a gift and she felt blessed to share it with others in moments of both happiness and reverence.

Ruby was a faithful member of Delta Kappa Gamma for over 50 years. Her passion for the organization’s values and goals was unwavering and she served with pride and integrity. She was also a member of the Heritage Club and served in numerous positions as well, hoping her contributions would inspire others as well as future members.
