The Brownwood Fire Department issued the following press release Thursday afternoon:
The Brownwood Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 716 Coleman at 9:16 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the attic on the front side of the residence. Brownwood Fire Department personnel made entry and found that the fire was contained to the attic. An interior search of the home found no one inside. The front gable of the house was cut open and the fire was extinguished quickly. Fire crews then ventilated the house and checked for any further fire extension. Fire damage was confined to the front of the house and the attic area. Investigation revealed that the fire was electrical in nature. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was on scene to assist the occupants.
Chief 9, Chief 93, Truck 9, Engine 9, Rescue 9, and Engine 92 all responded with assistance from the Early Fire Department, Lifeguard EMS, The Red Cross, Oncor and the Brownwood Police Department.
It took 14 minutes to get the fire under control and units were on scene for 58 minutes. The fire caused an estimated $5,000 worth of damage.
