SSG. Stanley “Stan” Russell, US Army (Ret.) 68, of Brownwood, Texas peacefully earned his golden wings after a short but fierce battle with colon cancer, August 10, 2024.

Stan was born on November 2, 1955, to Stanley V Russell and Betty (Morelock) Russell, in Brownwood, TX. 

After High School, Stan joined the United States Army, protecting and defending our freedoms for the next 20 years; deploying to many countries and participating in Desert Storm. Retiring as a Staff Sergeant. Upon his retirement and following September 11, 2001, he joined our sons going back to the Middle East to work for our country for the next 9 years. 

Stan is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Sue Trowbridge of Brownwood, TX. Bonus kids, Billy Trowbridge and wife Nicole of Spring, TX. Cody Trowbridge and wife Lydia of Brownwood, TX. And Savanna Trowbridge of Brownwood, TX. Grandchildren, Catarina Roll and husband Andrew of Menard, TX. Jade Trowbridge and fiancé Marcos Ramon of Brownwood, TX. Heaven Longo and husband Noah of Post Falls, ID. Hunter Trowbridge of Brownwood, TX. Cody Trowbridge of Brownwood, TX. Solara Trowbridge of Spring, TX. Great grandchildren, Adelaide, Everett and Wrenley. 

Nieces Donna Thacker, Sara Thacker and nephew Lee Crawford. Along with many extended family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Stanley Russell, sister Mary Kay Allen, brother Michael Russell and grandson Phillip Trowbridge. 

A private ceremony will be held at a later date, per his wishes.
