The Dave Campbell’s Texas Football website this week listed its updated Class 4A Division I Region I projections for the 2024 high school football season.

The Brownwood Lions, who are ranked No. 7 in 4A Division I by the publication in the preseason, are picked to place second behind No. 1 Stephenville in District 4.

The Lions are expected to enter the playoffs and face District 3 third seed Pecos in the bi-district round of the playoffs. Brownwood would then face either District 1 champion El Paso Ysleta or District 2 runner-up Dumas in the area round. The third round would then feature a 2022 postseason rematch between the Lions and Canyon, and DCTF has Canyon winning the contest and going on to face Stephenville the following week for the regional championship.

Brownwood, which is coming off a 12-2 campaign a year ago, advanced to the regional final in 2023 before falling to Decatur in the closing seconds, 38-35.

As for the rest of District 4-4A Division, Lampasas is projected to finish third in the league and Burnet is tabbed to come in fourth and grab the final postseason berth.
