Patricia Ann Hayes, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Coleman County Medical Center with her loving son by her side. Patricia was born on March 4, 1953, in Coleman, a place she always held dear to her heart.

Throughout her life, Patricia touched the lives of many with her kind and generous spirit. She was a dedicated homemaker who also found joy in working part-time in various stores, showcasing her talent by gift wrapping with care. Her journey led her to Village Shoes and Boutiques in Abilene, where she devoted several years of service.

Education played an important role in Patricia’s life as she grew up in Coleman and Colorado City. She proudly graduated from Colorado City High School, laying the foundation for a life filled with compassion and knowledge.

Patricia’s character shone brightly through her acts of kindness and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She was a pillar of support for those in need and volunteered tirelessly at her church, embodying the true essence of selflessness.

Among Patricia’s proudest accomplishments was her involvement with the Coleman County Ladies Auxiliary at Coleman County Medical Center. Additionally, she was a cherished member of Elm Street Church of Christ, where she imparted wisdom upon eager minds as a dedicated Tuesday School teacher for many years. Patricia’s faith and devotion continued through mission trips to Argentina, Honduras, Mexico, and Bolivia. She also served in the prison ministry for several years spreading hope and faith to those in need.

In reminiscence of Patricia’s legacy are those who were dear to her heart. She is preceded in death by her father, John Hayes; her mother, Alyene Laws Trewitt; one sister, Iris Hayes Parker; and her maternal grandparents, D.C. and Annie Laws.

Left to cherish fond memories of Patricia are her son Jay Lamar of Arlington; grandson Dylan Clay Lamar; brother Dan Hayes and wife Sheila of Blackwell; sister Cheryl Hayes of Lake Brownwood; brother-in-law Randy Parker of Abilene; nieces and nephews, Alisha Byerly, Stevens Hayes and wife Heather; Kelly Hayes and wife Diane; Nathan Hayes and wife Jennifer; as well as multiple great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will host a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Martin, minister at Winters Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street in Coleman.

Patricia’s unwavering love for her family and community will forever remain etched in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace knowing she made a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
