Brownwood ISD seeking volunteers to become ‘surrogate parents’

bisd-7

Brownwood ISD is seeking volunteers to become surrogate parents to assist children who do not have parents or family members.

A surrogate parent acts as a substitute parent of determining the child’s educational experience through the Special Education process.

A surrogate parent is not responsible for any financial costs or direct care of the child with disabilities.

Surrogate parents are required to attend a short training to help prepare you for the ARD/IEP process. Time commitment is minimal as you would simply attend IEP/ARD meetings.

Any citizen of the US who is at least 18 years old and does not have a conflict of interest can be a surrogate parent.
