A vehicle crash in Comanche County on June 16, 2024 at 12:52 PM took the life of a De Leon Texas woman and a Stephenville, Texas woman.

The accident was 6 miles northwest of De Leon, Texas on Farm to Market Road 1496 (FM 1496).

According to the DPS Preliminary Report, a 2015 Can-Am Spyder F3, Tri-wheel motorcycle was traveling south on FM 1496 when lost control and started into a side skid, striking a mailbox, and rolling, throwing both drive and passenger off the Vehicle. Investigators suspect the driver to have experienced a medical issue.

Pronounced dead at the scene was the driver Leslie Renae Mitchell, 54 from De Leon & passenger Nancy M. Chapman, 68, from Stephenville, Texas.

The road conditions were dry and the weather was clean. The crash is under investigation.
