Ella McEwin, 75

Ella Gay Dobbins Major McEwin, 75, of Brownwood, Texas for 70 years, spent the last 5 years of her life in Albany, Texas and passed away July 7, 2024 in Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be held with the family at Heartland Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 11, 2024. Funeral services will be held in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 12, 2024 with interment to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.

Ella was born September 11, 1948 in Brownwood, Texas to Elton and Klora Dobbins. Ella graduated from Brownwood High School in 1967 and married Larry Majors in September of 1970. They had two children and lived a great life together until Larry passed away in 1985. Ella married Jerry McEwin in 1996 and the two shared a great marriage until his passing in 2017. She retired from C.T.O. Head Start as a Dietary Coordinator after over 20 years of service. Ella loved Head Start and considered her co-workers family. She was a Baptist all of her life. Ella loved to read, cook and travel but her favorite times were spent with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

Ella is survived by her daughter, Joanna Kirby and husband Alan; son, Scott Majors and wife Misty; sister Joy Boyles; brother, Terry Dobbins; grandchildren: Tyler Felchner, Cheyenne Wilkinson, Mackenzie Majors, Adalyn Kirby and great grandchildren, Addyson Felchner, Makenna Wilkinson and Westin Wilkinson and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Ella is preceded in death by both parents, Elton & Klora Dobbins; both husbands, Larry Majors and Jerry McEwin; and one grandson, Austin Majors.
