Frankie Elizabeth Fenton, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024 peacefully surrounded by her family at the age of 94. Her family will host a visitation on Friday, July 12th at 1:00 PM prior to the Funeral Services at 2:00 PM at the Early First Baptist Church with interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Frankie was born on December 28, 1929 in Brownwood, Texas to Milton Lee and Lois Charly Cross. She attended and graduated from Early High School. Frankie married Oscar Fain Pitts on June 7, 1947 in Brownwood where they began a life together that blessed them with three children. Frankie and Fain enjoyed scuba diving, and riding Fain’s motorcycle. Florida was one of the places she loved scuba diving among other places. Frankie and Fain made trips on his Indian motorcycle, one was from Brownwood to Napa California to visit Fain’s brother and family. They traveled the southern route, through the very hot desert.

She loved to cook, and was a great cook, especially for the holidays with all the kids, spouses, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She was a gardener and could grow anything. She learned all of her knowledge from her mother. Frankie passed down her love for flowers, digging in the dirt and watching them grow to her children, Carol and Denise.

Frankie’s faith in Christ grew in the studying of the Bible, she taught children’s Sunday school classes and the adult Friendship Class later in life. She was over the summer Vacation Bible School for 2 years in the early 60’s.

Frankie met her other love of her life while working at the General Telephone Co, in Brownwood, Travis Fenton. They married on October 19, 1973. While she still loved her cooking, gardening, reading and teaching at Early First Baptist Church, she and Travis built their dream home on 56 acres between Early & Zephyr. She loved the quiet country and all the animals who came down to drink. Deer, wild turkeys, fox, guineas and a mountain lion, that traveled through the country side for a few years. After it rained the next morning Travis went with his camera and took pictures of the lion’s paw print, which was a large one. Frankie traveled over much of Europe, Jerusalem, Cairo and all the places in between.

Frankie loved life. Her God was first, family second and many friends. She was a member of Early First Baptist Church from cradle 1929 until October of 2017.
