Eugenia Kathryn (Katy) Stevens passed away June 27, 2024, at Songbird Lodge Nursing Home in Brownwood, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted by Blaylock Funeral Home with Pastor David Bryant officiating. Services will be held at Democrat Cemetery in Mills County, Tx. On Monday, July 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at Blaylock Funeral Home Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 5:30-7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood Texas.

Katy was a loving spouse and mother with a servant heart. She was born June 13, 1933, in Pocahontas, Iowa to William E. Gilbrech and Eugenia Ione Flagor Gilbrech. She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1951 and later attended Howard Payne College. She married Mackie Gene Stevens on March 6, 1951, in Pascagoula, MS. Katy worked at Arrow Coach Lines, Southwest State Bank, Betty Bell CPA agency, and as a medical Transcriptionist at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Katy is survived by her children Vanessa (Doug) Tervooren of Brownwood, Dana (Mike) Allen of Clyde TX, Gil Stevens of Zephyr, and Justin (Gina) Stevens of Burnet; her sisters Carmen (Jack) Mattews of Granbury and Deborah Juneau of Mansfield; sister in law Wyanne Gilbrech of Brownwood; grandchildren Chad Boyd, Jason Boyd, Jacob Boyd, Jamie Ramirez, Silas Tervooren, Brandon Ballard, Courtney Neal, Brent Mackey, Scott Mackey, Amanda Holik, Tell Stevens, Jordan Stevens, and Christopher Schmidt; 33 great grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She preceded in death by her parents and spouse; her daughters Pamela Boyd and Elisa Chesser; her grandchildren Joshua Stevens and Sara Tervooren; her brother William A. (Tony) Gilbrech; and son in laws Steve Mackey and James Chesser.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Ranjana Nigalye and the staff at Songbird Nursing Home as well as the staff of Alpha Omega Hospice. She was lovingly cared for.
