Brookshires Supermarket, 1400 Austin Ave., received a bomb threat Sunday morning.
According to Assistant Manager Idalis Murguia, they were informed by Brookshire’s Asset Management from the corporate office that a bomb threat against the Brownwood store had been received via e-mail. The store was immediately evacuated and the Brownwood Police Department was called. The police searched the building and no bomb was found.
Murguia said Brownwood was not the only store to receive a bomb threat. Threats were also e-mailed in for the Brookshire’s stores in Albany, Bridgeport, four in Tyler, and several in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The Brownwood Brookshire’s store was re-opened about one-hour after the evacuation.
