During Tuesday morning’s meeting, the Brownwood City Council approved $10,000 in additional funds to the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center for spay and neuter vouchers.

Since 2022, the City Council has committed $65,000 for spay and neuter vouchers, but that money has run out, leaving the final four months – June through September – of the current fiscal year without funds to continue the program. A budget amendment will further rectify the issue at the end of the fiscal year.

Two members of the Library Board recently submitted their resignation letters and mayoral appointments were approved Tuesday by the City Council.

Marianne Bartley Lockwood and Michele Wiley will fulfill three-year terms with their terms expiring Dec. 31, 2026.

Also, City Manager City Emily Crawford recognized the City’s Communications Team of Marshal McIntosh, Jarvis Green and Sydney Turner, which received two awards for excellence for the social media “Feels Like Home” campaign and for the digital budget book at their annual conference.

Following an executive session, no action was taken regarding claims for damages to property at 2514 Good Shepherd and 2516 Good Shepherd.
