The first trailer for It Ends With Us, based on the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name, has been released offering fans a first look at Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni in the title roles. The sneak peek is set to the Taylor Swift song “My Tears Ricochet,” which appears on the singer’s 2020 album, Folklore.

Blake Lively stars as Lily Bloom, who opens a flower shop with her friend Allysa (Jenny Slate).  Soon after, Allysa’s brother Ryle (Justin Baldoni) enters the picture, and the pair begin a whirlwind relationship.  Bloom is described as “a woman who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business.”

The film synopsis reads: “A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship. When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Sklenar), suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.”

The 2016 novel ‘It Ends With Us’ took TikTok by storm in 2021, and is loosely based on Hoover’s own childhood and centers on themes of domestic abuse. Hoover said in an Instagram video shared in January 2023: “I just want everyone to know how appreciative I am to my mother, who got us out of a scary situation when I was a little girl and brought us here to this house which doesn’t look like much, but this house was full of love and joy. Thank you, Mom, for making that very difficult decision. This house holds nothing but wonderful memories for me .. We are now discussing a movie that’s made from a book that was loosely inspired by my mother. It’s bittersweet. So many people have had to go through that. But to know that my mom’s decision has helped so many people get out of that… I love you, Mom.”
