6-4A Champion Lions Earn 12 All-District Baseball Accolades

The 6-4A all-district baseball selections have been revealed and the district champion Brownwood Lions earned 12 accolades.

Gavin Brandstetter was selected the MVP of the district, one of four superlative honors for the Lions as Logan Posey was tabbed Defensive MVP, David Turner was chosen as Utility MVP, and the Brownwood coaches were named Staff of the Year.

Landing on the first team for the Lions were pitcher Yovani Figueroa, infielders Antonio Ybarra and Austin Pittman, outfielder Jordyn Nickerson, and utility player Austin Wright.

Second-team picks from Brownwood included pitcher Noah Gonzalez and outfielders Eli Hill and Jack Field.

The Lions finished with an 11-1 district record and a 24-8-1 overall mark – including going 13-2 in one-run games – in their first season under head coach Blake Sandford, and reached the second round of the playoffs.

The rest of the 6-4A superlative honors included Glen Rose’s Cullen Kickhoefer as Pitcher of the Year, Stephenville’s Mason Weyers as Offensive MVP, and Stephenville’s Kutter Stone as Newcomer of the Year.

The remainder of the first team featured Mineral Wells pitcher Braeden Wells, Stephenville pitchers Wacey Dill and Luke Heller, Graham catcher Tripp Mahaney, Stephenville infielder Haiden Rudloff, Mineral Wells infielder Ridge Newton, Stephenville outfielders Eli Hitola and Mason Haynes and Stephenville designated hitter Jadis Clemmer.

Comprising the rest of the second team were Mineral Wells pitcher Ben Bullock, Graham pitcher Ryder Taylor, Stephenville pitcher Gabe Elms, Glen Rose pitcher Jackson Thompson, Stephenville catcher Tanner Smith, Mineral Wells infielder Tyler McWhorter, Stephenville infielder Tyler Hicks, Graham infielder Tate Loesch, Graham outfielder Ty Thompson, Mineral Wells outfielder Josh Petrie, Glen Rose designated hitter Caden Raymond and Glen Rose utility player Easton Bailey.
