HPU Faculty And Staff Honored At Annual Personnel Recognition Luncheon

Howard Payne University recently recognized members of faculty and staff at an annual personnel luncheon held on campus. Scott Owen, assistant professor of kinesiology, department chair and director of the Wellness Center, received the Outstanding Faculty Member Award. Roger Dewell, director of facilities, received the Outstanding Staff Member Award. The outstanding faculty and staff awards are made possible by Underwood’s Cafeteria and Porter Insurance Agency, respectively.

HPU’s Office of Information Technology received the Department of the Year Award. Members of the team are Anthony Arreola, enterprise systems administrator; Dr. Cherri Conley, instructional technology specialist; Christopher Ewen, part-time system support specialist; Dr. Jodi Goode, assistant vice president for information technology services and chief information officer; Tiffany Hogue, systems administrator; Bobby Womack, director of network and infrastructure services; and Jonathan Young, director of technical support services.

Certificates recognizing excellence in teaching were presented to Kenan Boland, assistant professor of government; and Kathy Hagood, associate professor of English.

Certificates recognizing excellence in service were presented to Ben Childers, mechanical, electrical and plumbing supervisor; and Susan Sharp, teacher certification officer.

Thirty-five years of service – Mike Daub, associate professor of accounting

Thirty years of service – Dr. Wendy McNeeley, assistant vice president for student success; Diane Owens, director of the Pre-College Music program (part time); and Juanita Sypert, government documents specialist and technical services assistant

Twenty-five years of service – Teresa Cavitt, assistant professor of kinesiology; Abram Choate, assistant director of athletics for athletic communications; and Stephen Goacher, professor of music

Twenty years of service – Katrina Lynn, director of human resources; and Stephen Lynn, head baseball coach

Fifteen years of service – Kenan Boland, J.D., assistant professor of government; Diane Hackney, custodial services supervisor; Dr. Stephen Kovach, associate professor of Christian studies and criminal justice (El Paso Center); Dr. Jennifer McNiece, director of experiential learning and professional development and Brand chair of free enterprise and public policy; and Dr. Hunter Sims, athletic director
