SALSA Awards Scholarships To 16 Area Students

SALSA had another impactful presence at the Cinco de Mayo Celebration, with many winners.

The biggest winners were SALSA’s scholarship recipients who split $8,000. A total of 16 students, nine from Early and seven from Brownwood, attending 12 different colleges and universities were honored at the event. Majors ranged from Medicine/Surgery to Interior Design.

From Early, they were:

  • Alexa Hernandez Acevedo – Texas Christian University
  • Dalton Ray Adams – University of Mary-Hardin Baylor
  • Memorie Castro – Stephen F. Austin University
  • Blyth Presley Marie Dunlap – Tarleton State University
  • Attisyn Estess – University of Texas Austin
  • Aubrey Greaves – Texas Tech University
  • Kaleb Ozuna – Tarleton State University
  • Kailey Patterson – Angelo State University
  • William Prochaska – Texas A&M University

From Brownwood, they were:

  • Emma Delgado – Dallas Baptist College
  • Mia Diaz – Howard Payne University
  • Allison Godinho – Texas State University
  • Molly Oliver – University of Mary-Hardin Baylor
  • Leila Rivera – Austin College
  • Marisol Rodriguez – Tarleton State University
  • Justin Valdez – Texas Tech University

Other winners were Rosemarie Piper, who one $817 in the 50-50 raffle. Taking first place in the Best Salsa contest was Sarah Bartek. Robert Lake won second and third place.

SALSA president Raul Martinez said, “We were very pleased with the turnout and congratulate all the winners, especially our scholarship recipients. We are very grateful to our sponsors 3M, Performance Pipe, and United, donors Leslie Gilbreath and Dr Juan Andrade, as well as the Arts Council, the City of Brownwood, and all the people that came out to support SALSA.”
