Joe ‘Jodie’ Wayne Edmiston, 79, of Brownwood

Joe “Jodie” Wayne Edmiston, of Brownwood, TX, passed away on May 4th after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Joe brought immense joy to those around him. A visitation will be held at Grosvenor Baptist Church at 9:30 AM, Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Celebration of Life service will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Grosvenor Baptist Church in Grosvenor, Texas.

Joe was born on October 18, 1944 in Rising Star, Texas. After graduating from Rising Star High School in 1962, he went on to study at Odessa College for 2 years.

In 1968, he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant after serving 2 years in Vietnam for the United States Army.

On November 1, 1969, he married the love of his life Linda Harvey in Irving, Texas.

After a 38 year career at General Motors, he and Linda retired at Lake Brownwood where he could spend his days engaging in his favorite hobbies . . . boating, hunting, and fishing. He also loved spending his weekends watching football.  He especially loved high school and college football.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Edmiston, his son Brett Edmiston, and wife Julie of Cleburne, his son Chip Edmiston, and wife Rachel of Justin, and his daughter Shannon Warner of Hurst.  He was blessed with 5 grandsons, Jake, Josh, Jack, Tristan and Luke.  He is also survived by his brothers, Doyle and Coy, and his sister Joyce, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Edmiston and Eula Talbott, his brother Ray Edmiston, and his sister Jaynel Eoff.
