Commissioners Offer County Inmate Labor To Greenleaf Cemetery

p1080653-1024x768

At Monday’s meeting of the Brown County Commissioner’s Court, approval was given to a proposal offering labor from County Jail inmates to Greenleaf Cemetery.

Greenleaf Cemetery is currently facing financial difficulties and has recently laid off some employees, making it difficult to keep up with maintenance of the grounds.  With this proposal from the County, from time-to-time some County jail inmates could be used to help at the cemetery.  Commissioners pointed out, however, that not all inmates are available for work outside the jail, and recently fewer inmates than normal have been available.   The amount of labor provided to the cemetery will be limited, therefore.
