Milling operations have begun to prepare roadways in Brown, McCulloch, and Mills Counties for the annual seal coat maintenance project. Milling removes a small amount of the road surface, leveling out uneven areas prior application of a seal coat. This seal coat is a thin protective layer of asphalt and rock which is applied to the road’s surface to extend the life of the roadway.
Work has begun on US 377 in McCulloch County, from south of FM 1028 to the Brown County Line, and will continue through approximately Wednesday, April 17.
A second crew has been working on SH 279 in Brown County, from the Callahan County Line to the Pecan Bayou Bridge. Work will continue through approximately Tuesday, April 16 in this location.
Once the above work is complete, crews will continue milling on the following roadways:
Brown County
• US 84: from FM 2126 to the Fort Worth and Western Railroad
• FM 2126: from US 84 to FM 45
Mills County
• US 84: from Center City to the Hamilton County Line
Beginning May 1, the annual seal coat operation will begin in the above locations in Brown, McCulloch, and Mills counties. Work schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen delays.
