Lions ranked No. 8 in Class 4A by Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association

In the most recent Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association rankings released Sunday afternoon, the Brownwood Lions make their season debut at No. 8 in the Class 4A Top 10.

The complete rankings feature China Spring (14-3) at No. 1, Liberty Eylau (14-4) at No. 2, Bullard (17-1) at No. 3, Sinton (13-5) at No. 4, Celina (17-3) at No. 5, Pleasanton (18-3) at No. 6, Tuloso-Midway (15-3) at No. 7, Brownwood (15-4-1) at No. 8, Calallen (16-6) at No. 9, and Boerne (14-6) at No. 10. 

On March 18, the TxHighSchoolBaseball.com rankings had Brownwood slotted at No. 21. Their next rankings should be revealed Monday,

The Lions are 15-4-1 on the season, 4-0 in District 6-4A and in the midst of a nine-game win streak where they have surrendered just 10 runs in that span.

Alone in first place one-third of the way through the 6-4A schedule, Brownwood begins home-and-home action this week as it hosts Mineral Wells at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Morris Southall Field and visits the Rams at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Lions rallied past Mineral Wells, 4-3, in the first meeting between the two teams on March 5 in Brownwood.
