James “Red” Anthony Bilbrey, 62, of Brownwood, Texas passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024. A graveside service will be held at Jones Chapel Cemetery 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 with Pastor Brian Hall Officiating.

Red was born August 8, 1961 in Brownwood, Texas to Charles and Freida Joyce Bilbrey. He attended Brownwood High School and worked in the Brownwood area as a self-employed contractor. Red had three great loves in his life second only to his two children. He loved to work and never knew what an 8 or 10 hour work day was. He would work into the middle of the night just because he had to finish a part of something that he was working on. Red loved to be outside and be active. From camping to cooking some Bar-B-Que, he was always ready to hang out with family and friends for a good time, as long as there was no work that had to be done. Red loved animals and was known for adopting every stray he came across and giving them a home. He was in a relationship with Maria Luera for over 3 years and was very thankful for her love and affection.

Red is survived by his daughter, Chandra Jayne Hinshaw of Brownwood; son, James Virgal Bilbrey of DFW; mother, Freida Joyce Bilbrey; sister, Jana Quick of Brownwood; nephew, John Quick of Brownwood; niece, Amber Dawn Quick of Brownwood; great niece, Willow Rose Quick of Brownwood; and many friends and loved ones.

Red was preceded in death by his former wife, Karen Hinshaw; father, Charles Lee Bilbrey; and his brother, Brian Kelly Bilbrey.
