James Edward Geeslin, 66, of Abilene

James Edward Geeslin of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Center City, Texas died on Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Abilene Texas after a long illness. He was 66 years old.

James was born in San Saba hospital on May 23, 1957.

James was a graduate of Star High School in Mills County, Texas.

During his work career he owned and operated several flood remediation and carpet cleaning companies, principally in Dallas, but also in Houston and New Orleans.

James loved fine dining and going out on the town.

James was also given to random acts of kindness. If he adopted a pet, he frequently chose the plainest one or the runt of the litter. James’s generosity and compassion were exhibited on numerous occasions throughout his career as he helped out casual acquaintances or employees through unsecured loans, monetary gifts or job leads, or by simply hiring them if he could fit them into the company in an effort to better their quality of life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian of Dallas, and his father and mother, Bertram Geeslin and Geraldine Lewis Geeslin of Center City, Texas.

He is survived by his brother, David Geeslin, and his wife Amy and their children, Gera, Haley, and Byron and their spouses and children; his brother, Bert Geeslin, and his wife Jill and their children, Joy and George and their spouses and children; and James’ longtime friend, Betty Rye of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, formerly of Arlington, Texas.

Graveside service will be held at Goldthwaite Memorial Pavilion Saturday March 2, 2024 at 3:00 PM

Memorials may be made to the charity of the individual’s preference.
