Weldon Augusta Stark, 73, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024.

Weldon was born on June 4, 1950, in Gorman, Texas. He grew up in Rising Star, Texas where he met the love of his life, Wanda Lee of May, Texas. They were married on November 27, 1970, and he spent the next 51 years in Brownwood alongside his best friend as they raised their two children, Alan, and Andrea. He spent the last 2 years in Plano, Texas near his children and grandchildren.

Weldon attended the University of North Texas for two years and completed his bachelor’s degree at Howard Payne University. He became a Certified Public Accountant and served his friends and neighbors of Brown County, and many across Texas and beyond for over 40 years until he retired in 2022.

Weldon’s life was defined by his service to his community, unfailing dedication to his family and friends, and his genuine interest in all people and their life, making no one who crossed his path a stranger for long. He used his professional knowledge as a CPA to assist numerous non-profits through positions on their boards, as an active member, and simply a community member to help however he could.

As Weldon’s children became active in youth athletics, so did he. He coached and mentored dozens of kids in various sports and dedicated years as a supporter and board member for the Brownwood High School Athletics Booster Club. His greatest contribution was his 20+ years of coaching, refereeing, and holding board positions for the Cen-Tex Soccer Association. Weldon believed wholeheartedly in the impact youth sports could have on the life and future of a child and focused not only on shaping great players but also future citizens.

Weldon will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his two children and spouses, Alan and Corley Stark of Plano, and Andrea and Jeff Ingram of Dallas; four grandchildren, Caroline, Augusta, Henry, and Carson; mother Lorene Clark; siblings, Reba Beggs and Michael Clark; sisters-in-law, Donna Lee and Betty Robert; brother-in-law Rusty Beggs, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends who were also family to him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Stark, and father, JD Clark.

Celebration of Life for Weldon will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Weldon Stark Cen-Tex Soccer Association Scholarship Fund to assist with registration fees making the game he loved available to kids who would otherwise be unable to play.
