Judy Lee Smith, 78, of Brownwood

Judy Lee Smith, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024, at the age of 78. A visitation with family will be held at Heartland Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2024. The funeral service will be held at Heartland Funeral Home at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 7, 2024 with interment to follow at Bangs Cemetery in Bangs, Texas.

Judy was born on July 11, 1945, in Big Spring, Texas to Howard and Eunice Thompson. Judy grew up in the Midland, Texas area and moved to Brownwood as a junior in high school. She graduated from Brownwood High School and married Bobby Joe Smith the following Fall on November 9, 1963. Bobby and Judy were blessed with 2 sons and many loving grandchildren that Judy adored. Judy’s life was defined by her unwavering devotion to family. She shared a profound connection with her husband Bob, who supported her throughout their blessed journey together. Their unbreakable bond served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Judy was also a doting mother and Nana to all. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she reveled in each and every moment spent with them, creating beautiful memories filled with laughter and joy. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines at sporting events or attending their school functions and stock show activities, Judy was always there to support and encourage her grandchildren. Judy found solace in nature and loved the great outdoors. She cherished the moments spent camping with her family and close friends, relishing in the beauty of nature’s embrace. She had a playful and jovial spirit, and her sense of humor brought warmth and light to any gathering. Judy loved joking around, playing games, and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. Judy was a crafty Nana who liked to sew and do needlework. She made ornaments and baby blankets for all the babies. In addition to her hobbies and passions, Judy also had a successful career as a teller in the banking industry. Her expertise and dedication were admired by her colleagues and clients alike. Judy’s commitment to her work and strong work ethic set a remarkable example for those around her. Judy and Bob were members of the Central United Methodist Church in Brownwood and her faith was exemplified in her life, her family and led her home. Judy Lee Smith’s memory will forever be kept alive in the hearts of those she loved and touched with her radiant spirit. She will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Judy is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Smith of Brownwood; sons, Ronnie Lynn Smith & partner, Rhonda Sheedy of Brownwood and Michael David Smith & wife, Susan Michelle of Brownwood; brother, Randall Clyde Thompson; grandsons, James Lee Smith of Dallas, Chirstopher Wayne Smith and partner, Lauren Casey of Marlin, Dylan Bailey Smith and fiancé Danielle Paz of Midland, Trey Arron Smith and partner, Jenna Mueck of Brownwood, and Mason Ryan Smith; granddaughters, Macee Brynn Skillern and husband Timothy of Nacogdoches and Mikaela Danielle Smith of Brownwood; 4 great grandchildren; 2 nieces, Susan Imbembo and Tami Denslinger; and longtime classmate friends, church family, and friends like family that she was Nana to.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Howard & Eunice Thompson; and her sister-in-law, Carol Thompson.
