Brownwood ISD reveals January Spotlight Employees

Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday afternoon:

This month’s spotlight teacher is Amber Evans. Ms. Evans is a 7th grade Math teacher at Brownwood Middle School (BMS). She is a 1992 graduate of Brownwood High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Elementary Education from Howard Payne University. She is a state-certified teacher (Elementary PE, Self-Contained, & Generic 1-8, Special Education PK-12) and began teaching at BMS in 1997. This is her 27th year with Brownwood ISD.
Ms. Evans is one of the best teachers at Brownwood Middle School. She goes above and beyond for all students as well as her colleagues. She builds positive relationships with students through structure, respect, and love. Year after year Ms. Evans is referred to by students as “my favorite teacher” and no matter what level a student is on she always finds a way for them to grow in Math.
Brownwood ISD is proud to have dedicated teachers like Ms. Evans who consistently inspire new generations of learners while demonstrating a passion for teaching and commitment to student success.
Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Karie Smith. Ms. Smith is a Life Academics Teaching Assistant (TA) at Coggin Elementary School. She is a 2004 graduate of Brownwood High School and is a certified Educational Aide.Ms. Smith joined Brownwood ISD in 2017, and spent 5 years working in Life Academics at Woodland Heights Elementary before moving into her current position at Coggin. This is Ms. Smith’s 7th year with Brownwood ISD.
Ms. Smith provides support to all five Life Academics classes at Coggin Elementary School. She is amazing with the students and provides each of them with the individualized support they need to be successful. She is always willing to help and steps in wherever needed, even when a change comes almost instantaneously. She has a great attitude, supports teachers through various challenging circumstances, and continually helps students improve their outlook on school.
Brownwood ISD is blessed to have positive and dynamic staff like Ms. Smith who go the extra mile to support our Life Academics teachers and students in the classroom.
