Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood and local orthopedic surgeons to host an educational program on knee pain/replacement, January 25.

Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (HMCB) and local orthopedic surgeons, Drs. James Deal, John Masterson, Stephen Roberts, and Marlen Strefling will present a free program to share information about knee pain and surgical treatment options like knee replacement. The program will be held on Thursday, January 25, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood first floor Surgery Waiting Area.

Determining the “right time” for a knee replacement is a struggle for many suffering with pain. The surgeons will discuss common signs and symptoms of knee pain and the causes, such as injury, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. They will focus on several non-surgical options to consider prior to having knee surgery.

Once the decision of surgery is made, your surgeon will ask you to attend a special joint replacement educational program called, Joint Venture. The class is hosted by the HMCB surgical services team, therapy services and case management. They will explain a step by step process for the best outcome. You will understand what to expect before surgery, during the hospital stay and the recovery process. The goal is to provide you the best plan of care for a successful surgery and recovery with less pain and improved mobility for a better quality of life.
