The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Wednesday morning:
On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at approximately 1:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Parkway regarding a report of a burglary in progress. While en route to this area, officers were told that the subject was leaving and walking toward Coggin Park.
Officer James Holdar arrived in the area and observed a male, matching the suspect description, walking away from Parkway. Officer Holdar initiated contact with the subject in the 2200 block of Austin Ave and identified him as 17-year-old Robert Shane Miller of Brownwood.
While officers were interviewing Miller, he fled from the area and ran through Coggin Park and out of view of pursuing officers. With the information he provided, officers were able to contact his family and notify them of his actions this evening.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., Miller’s family contacted the police department to inform us that Miller had returned home. Once again, Miller was spoken to and then arrested.
Miller was transported to the Brown County Jail and charged with Evading Arrest/Detention and Tampering with Evidence.
