Milton Drake, 81, of Odessa

Milton Drake, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, dedicated employee, and known as “Goose”, passed away on December 19, 2023, in Odessa, Texas. He was born on November 22, 1942, in Coleman, Texas, the son of Elzie B. Drake and Ila Leola Robinson Drake.

After graduating from Santa Anna High School, Mr. Drake enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 31, 1962. He served his country honorably until his discharge on January 28, 1966. Mr. Drake’s military service instilled in him a sense of discipline and a strong work ethic that carried throughout his life.

Following his military service, Mr. Drake embarked on a successful career at Miether Machine Works, where he dedicated 40 years of his life. He worked his way up to the position of materials supervisor, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He took great pride in his work and considered it an honor to serve Miether Machine Works for such a significant portion of his life.

Outside of work, Mr. Drake had a passion for sports. He enjoyed participating in activities like bowling, softball, and skiing. However, one of his greatest joys came from cheering on the Texas Tech Football team. He was an avid fan, and his enthusiasm for the game was infectious.

In his leisure time, Mr. Drake loved traveling with his family, creating cherished memories at the various Disney theme parks. These trips provided an opportunity for him to spend quality time with his loved ones, creating a bond that will be forever cherished.

Milton Drake is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Maureen Watson.  Mr. Drake is survived by his loving wife, Eva Mauldin of Odessa; a son, Jamie Mauldin and wife, Andrea, of Midland; his cherished grandchild, Damien Mauldin of Midland; three sisters, Delma Blair of Santa Anna, Sherry Burleson of Clyde, Patsy Drake of Santa Anna; two brothers, David Drake of Brownwood, Robby Drake of Galveston, along with a host of nieces and nephews and friends who will dearly miss him.

A visitation will be held on December 29, 2023, at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, from  5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., to offer an opportunity for friends and acquaintances to pay their final respects.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Milton Drake will be held at the Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion on December 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to join together to remember Mr. Drake’s remarkable life and find solace in the memories they shared.

Following the service, Mr. Drake will be laid to rest at the Santa Anna Cemetery in Santa Anna, Texas.
