June Hampton, 88, of Early

A graveside funeral service for June Hampton, age 88, of Early, will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 21, 2023, in Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.

Mrs. Hampton passed from this life on Monday, December 18, 2023.

June Wood Hampton was born on September 30, 1935, in Portales, New Mexico, to Herman and Lucy Wood. She graduated from Portales High School and married her high school sweetheart, Roland Hampton, on February 6, 1954. Their marriage lasted 69 years and blessed them with two children. June loved the Lord, her family and many friends. She was an active member of the Early Methodist Church where she served on various committees. June could be found in the kitchen preparing meals and even making wedding and birthday cakes for family members and friends. She also enjoyed crafting, sewing clothes for family, and volunteering at Good Samaritan Ministries. June’s grandsons were her pride and joy. She and Roland attended every event and activity they possibly could. June looked forward to her weekly card games with friends. This group Roland nicknamed “The Fat Ladies Club.” June was always willing to help anyone.

June is survived by her husband Roland Hampton of Early, a daughter, Ronda Toeppich of Early, three grandsons, Judd Toeppich and wife Brandi of Comanche, Wade Hampton of Austin, and Emmett Hampton, also of Austin, a great-granddaughter, Myla Toeppich of Comanche; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael Hampton, and two sisters, Hermadene Fletcher and Bea Capps.

June’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Care Nursing and Rehabilitation for the wonderful care she received.
