Callahan County Collision Claims Two Lives

According to information received from the Texas Department of Public Safety, two people died in a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 36 in Callahan County that took place at 7:36 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16.

Dennis Warren, 55, of Houston, the driver of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, and Cristobal Solis, 48, of Abilene, the driver of a 2021 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, were both pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Andie Holland.

The passenger in the Honda, 74-year-old Frank Solis of Abilene, was transported to Hendrick North Medical Center with an incapacitating injury in stable condition.

According to the preliminary report, the Chevrolet was traveling east on State Highway 36 in a curve on the roadway.  The Honda was traveling west on SH 36.  The Chevrolet’s driver veered into the westbound lane of SH 36 striking the Honda.

The weather was clear, conditions were dry and all persons in the vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
