Lois Ann ‘Baby Ann” Harper, 86 longtime resident of Santa Anna, Texas passed to the arms of her Jesus on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 2:24 pm at the Hendricks Medical Center Brownwood.
Services w3ill be Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jerry Chastain officiating. Interment will follow at the Whon Cemetery with services under the direction and care of The Staff of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.
She was born Lois Ann Shields on August 23, 1937 in Santa Anna, Texas to Edgar David ‘Jack’ and Virginia Beatrice ‘Gigi’ Powell Shields. Lois Ann was raised in Santa Anna where she graduated in the class of 1955 Santa Anna High School. She continued her education receiving degrees in Music Education and Special Education from Sul Ross. Lois Ann was married to Charles Alfred Harper, Jr.
While a member of the First United Methodist Church she served 15 years as Choir director. Lois Ann is a member of First Presbyterian Church, Self Culture Club and Epsilon Sigma Alpha. With great humor and love of her Santa Anna community she wrote “Happenings Round The Mountain” for Chronicle Democrat Voice. As a Music and Special Education Teacher she began her career with San Angelo ISD then taught 20 years with Santa Ann ISD. She devoted many hours keeping the stats for Santa Anna ISD sports events.
Survivors include 3 Sons – Damon Lee Harper of Santa Anna, Texas, David Shawn Harper of Santa Anna, Texas, Rex Aaron & wife Hana Harper of Drumwright, Texas; Grandson – Braden Harper of Drumwright, Texas; Lois Ann was preceded in death by her sister Sharon Martin in 2022; & 3 Half Brothers.
