‘The Happy Elf’ set for the Lyric stage Dec. 8-17

Brownwood’s Lyric Theatre is preparing for its annual holiday production as The Happy Elf will hit the stage eight times between Dec. 8-17.

According to the Lyric Theatre website, ”A new musical comedy by the Grammy Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated composer and lyricist, Harry Connick, Jr.’s The Happy Elf tells the tale of Eubie the Elf, a lovable fellow who wants to spread Christmas joy throughout the town of Bluesville.”

The play is directed by Nancy Jo Humfeld and features Jeff Woods and Kay Tabor Shields in the roles of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, Aleah Curtis as Gilda, and Emerson Evans, Annsley Hager, Hadley Hager, Ava Vargas, and Caydence Maxwell as Elf Rockettes, among others.

The Lyric posted on its Facebook page, “Gather your family and friends, and embark on a musical journey that will leave you smiling from ear to ear. This holiday season, let Eubie and his friends remind you of the true magic of Christmas!”

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and can be purchased online at brownwoodlyrictheatre.com.

Showtimes at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 and 15; 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 and 16; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 and 17.
