DUBLIN – The Brownwood Lions captured the Dublin tournament championship Saturday night with a 67-64 come-from-behind victory over District 6-4A rival Stephenville.
Trailing by eight points with just three minutes to go, a feverish rally finished off a 3-1 weekend for the Lions (3-6), who entered the tournament without a victory in their first five outings.
Brownwood trailed 21-12 after one quarter, 31-29 at halftime and 53-43 heading into the fourth quarter, where the Lions owned a 24-11 scoring advantage.
Casey Friebel again paced Brownwood with 21 points trailed by Austin Pittman with 17, Ross Strasner with 12, Joel Holguin with seven Noah Pyle with five, and Durham Brown and Grant Gray with two points apiece.
The Lions will be back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at San Angelo Lake View.
