Gearld Cantrell, age 69 of Comanche, Texas passed away unexpectedly on November 29, 2023. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas.
Gearld Wayne Cantrell was born in Brady, Texas on April 18, 1954 to William Henry (Bill) Cantrell and Betty Jo (Norton) Cantrell. Gearld attended schools in Brownwood, and served in the military, after high school. He traveled and had various occupations over the years. His many talents included floral designing, catering and wedding planning. After leaving Texas, he lived in Old Mexico, Taos, NM, then settled in Arkansas, where he worked as a maintenance
supervisor for Devil’s Den State Park in West Fork. After retirement, health issues brought Gearald back to Texas to be near family. We are forever grateful for this time together.
Cooking and gardening were Gearld’s passions! He loved everything about food, from growing, preparing, serving and of course, eating! He often cooked for his friends, family, and neighbors. He was an avid gardener. A large variety of plants, vegetables and herbs line the walls and walkways around his apartment!
Gearld was proceeded in death by his parents: Bill and Jetta Cantrell, David and Betty Dean; brother, Calvin Dean; brother-in-law, Jerry Bearss; nephews, Lee Rainey, Mark Albro, John Jacob Cantrell and Lee Sproles.
Left to cherish Gearld’s memory is his bonus son, Christopher Michael Seratt, and his special fur babies Stormy and Miss Marie. He is also survived by sisters; Christine Bearss of Brownwood, Brenda and Larry Albro of Temple, Reba and Bob Williams of Tampa, FL, Lavonna and Mac Saunders of Early, Ima and David Mullins of Kyle, a brother, Steve Cantrell and wife Lisa of Brownwood, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
