Nancy Lovera Strickland

Nancy Lovera Strickland, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, at Brownwood Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born on May 28, 1939, in Gouldbusk, Texas, to Waddie Franklin Machen and Rose Etta Graham Machen, Nancy touched the lives of all those around her with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love.

Throughout her life, Nancy dedicated herself to her family and her craft. She was a talented beautician, devoting many years to bringing joy and confidence to her clients, who often became lifelong friends. Nancy’s vibrant personality and warm spirit brightened up every room she entered.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Guinn Strickland and Arch Strickland; and her siblings, Sam Machen, Ella Mae Rowe, Arther Wade Machen, Ruth Faith, Alma Fay Trammell, Chester Machen, and Raymond Machen.

Nancy will be deeply missed by her surviving relatives, including her devoted son Monty Strickland, loving daughter Becky Carlile and husband Donnie, and caring son Clifton Strickland and wife Gay Lynn. She will also be remembered fondly by her sister Mary Lanetta Davis, granddaughter Amanda Lynn Strickland, grandson Hunter Chase Strickland, as well as her great-grandchildren Presslee Tulos and Lynnlee Tulos.

To honor and celebrate Nancy’s life, a funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the Gouldbusk Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in the Gouldbusk Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
