As a part of the recently passed 2023 Bond, Brownwood Independent School District (BISD) is excited to announce a significant enhancement to our elementary gymnasiums, set to improve safety, functionality, and overall user experience for our students and staff. Under the guidance of BISD Bond Program Manager Tammy Gray, the district is embarking on a transformative project that will make a lasting impact on BISD elementary schools.
The current state of our elementary gym floors has called for an upgrade, and with the collaboration of our dedicated gym teachers, a state-of-the-art floor system has been designed that ensures cleanliness, safety, and resilience for all our elementary schools. The project reflects BISD’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive environment for physical education and recreational activities.
Key highlights of this project include:
- Innovative Gym Floor System: The new gym floor system is designed to offer enhanced performance, safety, and durability. This means students and staff can enjoy gym activities with confidence, knowing that they are supported by a premium, high-quality surface.
- Storage Facilities: As part of this project, each elementary will receive new portable storage facilities for each gym. These facilities will allow schools to securely store their equipment, ensuring a clutter-free environment and an open gym floor ready for immediate use. This will streamline the setup and breakdown of equipment, making gym activities more efficient and enjoyable.
- Installation Over Christmas Holidays: We are pleased to announce that the installation of the new gym floor system and storage facilities are on track to be completed over the upcoming Christmas holidays. This ensures minimal disruption to the regular school activities while allowing us to complete this significant upgrade efficiently.
Gray expressed her enthusiasm for this project, stating, “Our elementary gym floors were in major need of an upgrade. With the help of all gym teachers, we’ve designed a new floor system that will be clean, safe, and resilient for the schools. In addition, we’ve provided each gym with portable storage facilities so that they can safely store all their equipment and leave the gym floor open for use.”
BISD is grateful for the ongoing support of our community and the tireless dedication of our gym teachers. The new gym floors will contribute to the overall well-being and safety of our students. We look forward to the completion of this project and anticipate a positive impact on the physical education and recreational activities in our elementary schools.
