Voting was held Tuesday in the Constitutional Amendment Election in Texas.
Here in Brown County, the total turnout of registered voters was 4,281 which is 17.45% of the registered voters. Here in Brown County, all but one of the propositions passed. Brown County voters said no to Proposition 13 which dealt with judges staying on the bench longer. And, statewide, Texans soundly defeated a constitutional amendment that would have let judges stay on the bench longer. Proposition 13 would have increased the minimum retirement age from 70 to 75 and the mandatory retirement age from 75 to 79.
In other measures which passed in Texas:
A raise for retired teachers, property tax cuts and billions in investments in infrastructure, research, tech and energy were approved by voters Tuesday night.
